Pesticides

Bed Bug Pesticide Alert
  • Never use a pesticide indoors that is intended for outdoor use. It is very dangerous and won’t solve your bed bug problem.
  • Using the wrong pesticide or using it incorrectly to treat for bed bugs can make you sick, may not solve the problem, and could even make it worse by causing the bed bugs to hide where the pesticide won’t reach them.
  • Check if the product is effective against bedbugs -- if a pest isn’t listed on the product label, the pesticide has not been tested on that pest and it may not be effective. Don’t use a product or allow a pest control operator to treat your home unless bed bugs are named on the product label.
  • Before using any pesticide product, READ THE LABEL FIRST, then follow the directions for use.
  • Keep in mind that any pesticide product without an PMRA registration number has not been reviewed by PMRA, so we haven’t determined how well the product works.

Monitoring Devices

BDS™ is a passive detection device designed for monitoring bedbugs on a large scale - as part of a proactive inspection/prevention strategy.

Why Early Detection Is Key

BDS™ is the first monitor for bedbugs that can be employed on a large scale as part of an IPM/Early Detection/Ongoing Inspection program. We were driven to design this first-of-its kind device by simple economics: the bedbug monitors currently on the market cost from as “little” as $20-$25 to as much as $600! At these rates, it is difficult to imagine a large-scale program being used in a 250 room hotel, or a 400 unit apartment complex.

BDS™ is priced at a fraction of these costs, giving pest management companies the tools to employ a comprehensive inspection and prevention plan that is focused on early detection. After a bedbug treatment, BDS™ should be installed to illustrate that the treatment was effective and to help identify any post-treatment activity.

How It Works    BDS™ simulates the conditions that bedbugs consider “perfect harborage”: tight, dark tunneling and rough woodsy material. (Common examples are the small grooves of corrugated boxes, mattress creases and wood furniture.) Through careful research of bedbug biology, we have developed a trap that imitates these patterns. If bedbugs are nearby, they are drawn to the BDS™ and trapped in its patented dot-matrix adhesive.

Where Is BDS™ Used?    BDS™ is designed as a detection device and should be utilized as a center point for inspection by a trained pest management professional. in any place that people congregate.

Multiple-Unit Dwellings/Apartment Complexes
Hotel/lodging locations
Long-term Care Facilities/Hospitals
Offices
College Dormitories
Schools/Daycare Facilities
Restaurants
Public Transportation
Storage Facilities
Anywhere people inhabit or frequent.

Is BDS™ Foolproof?   A “negative” reading on a BDS™ monitor does not necessarily guarantee that there are no bedbugs.  BDS™ is designed to be ONE PART of the strategy to combat and manage bedbugs. It can provide you with valuable information, such as where bedbugs may be harboring, and it can confirm beyond any doubt that bedbugs are present.

Where can you purchase?   The BDS™ system has been shipped  to pest professional suppliers across Canada.  Pest professionals who deal with bed bugs should have the product ready for installation.  Contact a professional near you.

Heat Treatment

The HEAT ASSAULT 500X is a revolutionary new heat insect eradication system. It has been engineered to be so simple and safe to operate that no special training is required. This Green Technology will eliminate insect infestations at all stages of life in only a few hours.

The system provides 500,000 BTU/h of heat that will eradicate any insect and their eggs, larvae and pupae.  No pesticides of any kind are required and the heat will penetrate all forms of furniture including dresser drawers, mattresses, box springs, etc.  The “HEAT ASSAULT” can be used by loading commodities into a container and applying heat within the container or can be used effectively on site by placing portable heaters in appropriate areas throughout an infested building.  It can be used in food manufacturing or food storage plants which is great news for Organic institutions. Although it can be used to destroy any insect, it is widely used for bedbug eradication.

How it works.
The HEAT ASSAULT draws 100% environmentally friendly heat transfer fluid (HTF) out of its reservoir, heats it up in two robust oil fired coil heaters and returns it to the reservoir. The heated HTF is then pumped out of the reservoir through the hoses to unit heaters in the insect eradication area. Fans in the Unit Heaters remove the heat from the HTF and blow it into the insect eradication area. The HTF then returns to the HEAT ASSAULT for reheating. Only clean, dry heat is left in the insect eradication area!

This two loop system provides consistently high temperatures to ensure that the insect eradication area is in the kill zone (120F) in minutes. Remote temperature probes are used to track progress and ensure that the insect eradication is a success!

ThermaPure Heat: Environmental safe treatment to kill bed bugs

As the bed bug epidemic continues to strengthen its grip on North America, ThermaPure®,  the industry pioneer that developed the heat treatment process currently being used to effectively kill the blood-sucking pests and their eggs, has been awarded another patent from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (US 7,690,148 B2 – Hedman, issued April 6, 2010).

The ThermaPureHeat® process uses a combination of carefully applied and monitored heat, air circulation and air filtration to penetrate the structure – including wall cavities, structural members, and cracks and crevices – with a level of heat that is lethal to bed bugs and their eggs, normally with just a single application. Many scientists studying the bed bug epidemic point to heat as the most effective solution currently available. The ThermaPureHeat process is currently licensed to more than 50 quality pest control and environmental companies in North America
